Nowadays our life isn’t safe. To start with, crimes have been a growing problem all over the world in the last 30 years. It seems that neither police, nor government can guarantee public safety. Therefore statistics shows that crimes have been increased at present. So no one can live in peace and feel save in his own home.
This situation in Lithuania is getting hopeless.
First of all, crimes involving stealing, like burglaries, shopliftings, pick pocketing are the most popular. Some people go shoplifting just to provide their families. The number of shoplifters is increasing rapidly in Lithuania because of its rather poor economical situation. I believe that the most proper punishment for shoplifters would be a warning the first time they are caught and if they do it again I think a slight fine would be ok. No matter how hard the government or shop owners try to stop shoplifting, there still will be a group of people, who will do it.
Secondly, lots of crimes are connected with drugs and under the influence of alcohol. Quit a member of crimes is committed by people being drunk. Some car crimes are not very serious, such as illegal parking, otherwise some are dangerous, such as drunk driving, reckless driving, speeding.
