We usually say that Earth is our home, our habitat, our native planet and so on. But what have we done to save and maintain it? Our common life couse polution, littering, greenhouse effect, animal extinction. So we mostly damage Earth‘s surfase and atmosphere.
The greenhouse effect is the rise in temperature that the Earth experiences because certain gases in the atmosphere trap energy from the sun. Whenever we use the Air Conditioner, ride in a Car, microwave a Meal or when factories make the things that we buy and use everyday we are helping to send greenhouse gas into the air. The greenhouse effect is important. Without it, the Earth wouldn‘t be warm enough for humans to live. But if the greenhouse effect becomes stronger, it could make the Earth warmer than usual. Even a little extra warming may cause problems for humans, plants, and animals.
Moreover, we can feel it‘s results even in Lithuania. The average temperature is rising every year. Summer is hotter than usually and winter‘s average temperature is higher then always. We can feel it even nowdays: the temperature is often above zero. In addition, I‘m not keen on skiing and skating, but the last time I was skiing was last year. It was a very cold winter with a lot of snow.
If I had to characterise the climat of Lithuania to a visitor who has never been in Lithuania before this is how it would be:
